Do you mean should do or actually do? I work in a hospital and we have frequent drills to keep us up on the latest procedures to follow in a fire or bomb threat,etc. I watched our well trained staff deal with a small fire in a wastebasket and it scared me to death. People were running all over and no one seemed to remember where the fire extinguishers were or what to do with the wastebasket. One fella carried it into the nurse's station. Meanwhile the alarms were going off and the firemen arrived in their bright yellow coats. By that time, the fire was completely out and we had smoke damage all over the place. The firemen were disgusted, but they sure were cute. We had a nice long meeting about it afterward. Oh-by the way, the patients knew enough to go out on the patio. Psych patients knew so much better than our staff.

Access the immediate area. clear a spot. check the victum. if someone else is there have them call 911 while you see if the person is breathing.....if not start CPR, have someone bring you a AED if there is one near by....wait for help.
