The common cold won't affect your baby at all. It will just make you feel miserable.

There are certain over-the-counter meds you should avoid (like aspirin, nasal decongestants, etc.) but other than that, there's nothing to worry about. You can ask your doc for a list of safe medications.

it depends. Go see your doc. I had a bad cold and I have asthma that was several effect by the cold. My doc put me on a nepulazer instead of an inhalor because it lastest longer and was more effective. he said that problems with me breathing could effect the oxygen getting to the baby but other than that, the cold will run its course. Look out for fevers as well. as thoughs are a sign of an infection and if an infection gets into the blood stream it could be dangerous.

The cold should not effect the baby. You do, however, need to be careful of what medications you take. Check with your doctor before taking anything, even over the counter. Good luck!

During the course of your pregnancy, you are actually more likely to catch a cold or even the flu. Because your immune system is affected during pregnancy, your symptoms may persist longer than usual. Nasal stuffiness is very common in pregnancy because of hormonal effects on the nasal passages.

Having a cold shoulnd't affect your baby in anyway. However, if you have a temperature, call your doctor as soon as possible.

Recommended medicines to take during pregnancy if you have a cold are:

-Sudafed nasal decongestant
-Robitussin and Robitussin DM cough syrups
-Expectorant during daytime hours (to help bring secretions up)
-Suppressant at night (to help control cough and promote rest)
-Vicks plain cough syrup
-Tylenol (generic name acetaminophen) for aches, pains, and temperatures over 100.)

These are usually recommended after the 12th week of pregnancy, and of course, ask your doctor first.

I got a cold with my second pregnancy, and it was just horrible. Because of your immune system during pregnancy, teh symptoms may feel worse.

Good luck, and congrats on the pregnancy!

The cold itself will be harmless for your baby. Just ask a doctor or pharmasist before you take any over-the-counter medications.

As long as it is just a cold there is nothing that can happen with the baby. I had upper respritory infections, asthma, and was on steroids with my son and he is fine. Congrats!!

You can take many cold relief medications. Just ask at your local pharmacy and they will direct you to which ones are safe, if you would like to take something....If not, just ride it out. Plenty of fluids, rest and vitamins, take care of yourself!!!

None to my knowledge.

You'll be fine.

If you decide to take cold medicine, check with your doctor he/she will be able to tell you the appropriate ones to digest.
