Baloney!!
Breathing our rotten air isn't good for you....
I couldn't function without my coffee...I don't care what it does. It gets my going and I love the taste.
I simply don't worry about all that stuff. I figure at my age (pushing 70), I'm healthy as a horse, take no prescriptions, very active. I must be doing something right.
Get this; I even fry my eggs in bacon grease!!!!!
Yummmm!

Sometime back a study of coffee was done. The result? 50% of the doctors said is was bad for us. 50% said they could not find anything harmful in coffee. I will not give up my coffee. My desire for it has dimenished over the years. I used to drink a pot in the morning, two or three cups in the afternoon and a couple at night. Now I seem to only want three or four in the morning and rarely drink more the rest of the day. Seems strange to me. I do not travel with out my coffe pot. I am going on a cruise at the end of this month and I am taking it. I sailed on this same ship last year and the coffee was awful. A lot of people told them about it so maybe they have improved it, but I am taking no chances!!!

I've noticed the "this is good for you" today, followed by "stay away from this" few weeks later. Regarding coffee, since the beginning of its life, I guess, it's being known to "pick people up", which goes from making you a bit more active, less tired, etc., to everything in between.
Now, everything in excess is always bad. I don't drink coffee, but used to when I was a child in my country!!!! Of course I'm talking here about what we call real coffee; dark, straight coffee, of which you can only drink a tiny cup at a time. Very similar to espresso, which is probably the correct name for it, anyway. If you're talking about "american" coffee, the one you drink by the mug, well, I still can't see how that kind of coffee would be harmful in any way, since it's so watery.
I myself drink only instant coffee with milk. And whenever possible regular tea. Tea is benefiial also because of the anti-oxidants.

I've heard that the first two cups in the morning perks you up all day or half a day. I have also heard that it constricts certain arteries and blood vessels and is bad for you. Other than having to starve myself and no coffee in the morning before giving blood to the vampires, I have, read HAVE to have a large mug in morning just to feel good all day. So, I am with you on not giving it up. Besides, after drinking coffee everyday since I was 10 years old, how bad can it be? And in the service we lived on coffee.

There's always conflicting reports on what is good for you and what isn't. I think most things in moderation are ok for most people. However, there may be things such as caffeine that could interact with certain medications or medical conditions. I drink decaf coffee through my own choice. I found I have a sensitivity to caffeine and I don't like the side effects if I get very much of it. I think we are all individuals and if we listen to our bodies we often know if something is harmful to us or not.

I haven't heard any recent news about this, but it seems that this goes back and forth, as to whether or not coffee affects blood pressure. I think, as with all things, moderation is the key. I'd be more concerned with salt and sodium content (and trans fats) than with coffee -- or, at least, until the experts can give be more definite about this.

There are 'studies' that 'SHOW' xyz is good for you. Yet another bunch of nimrods will do 'studies' that show xyz is BAD for you. ANYTHING is bad for you in large quantities.
We are becoming a nation if irrational paranoids. I got an email today about being able to google.com someone's phone number and get a map and house address just from that. IT'S DANGEROUS! the email said. Duh...I've been using that feature for a long time...finding out which peabrain was too lazy to leave a message when they called.

Coffee is one thing I will not give up totally. I limit myself to 2 or 3 cups before noon and then no more. That is as far as I will go.
