Rainforests are usually located in certain parts of the world closer to the equator where it's usually hot, humid, but there's also a lot of moisture coming in from nearby large bodies of water and rain, exotic animals and certain plants/trees grow in these habitats. Forests are more general spread through out the world and consists of mainly lots of trees within the evergreen, spruce (whatever would remind you close of Christmas trees), a lot of regular trees you'd see everday, and then there's the oaks, ivy, and other sorts like moss, so on and so forth. The woods are actually just trees gathered together in a location and it's more like a term for something that resembles the forest but not quite exactly there. Woods are like mini-forests and woods/forests usually range in different temperature climates. They don't have exotic animals but you can see banana slugs, snails, snakes, owls, squirrels, deers, and certain types of other animals in the woods/forests. Rainforests average rainfall from 160 to 400 inches a year, therefore, the primary reason why they're called "rainforests". The jungle is basically a term for a rainforest such as the woods is a term for the forests. The rainforests also have a record of being the earth's oldest continuous ecosystem and scientists have found fossils that date back 70 to 100 million years. Usually we find dead tree branches, some pine cones, and local such at forests.

The Difference between a rainforest and a forest is that rainforests have alot of streams, rivers and ponds around but normal forests have some water when it rains or after the morning dew arrives.

A forest is generally considered as consisting of evergreen trees, redwoods, pine trees and the like, and inhabited by owls, small birds, cougars, bears and the like. A Jungle is more tropical, existing closer to the equator and inhabited by different kinds of foliage such as vines and more tropical marshy kinds of things and has creatures such as snakes, big colorful birds, lions, tigers, and such.
A rain forest is a forest with high humidity which is caused by a lot of rainfall but higher temperatures. Often a mist is hanging in the air between the trees. Usually medicinal plants and new species are found in rain forests because they are for the most part the most undiscovered areas in the world today.

climate and temperature. These are the main factors. In a rainforest, the climate is very hot and humid. The type of plant species are tropical and exotic. You will find different types of animals to those in a forest.
In a forest, the climate is different. Its cooler than a rainforest and you tend to find woodland animals- not exotic creatures.
Whoever said the difference is rain is a thick as a piece of cotton wool.

a rain forest is usually located in a tropical or sub tropical zone and it normally rains every day and sometimes more than once
this is not true for temperate and sub arctic forests such as the taiga.
