He was trying to cheat the system, so he can pocket more money. Ny'ers should be pissed off that Mr. Ny wants to live in Florida.

He's a Florida resident. I see him all the time. He lives here. Funny how the State of New York doesnt mention the taxes that NON RESIDENT BALLPLAYERS pay when they play in the City or State. If they charged those taxes, and you know they did, they acknowledged that Jeter is not a resident. Some dinkweed just got a bug and decided to go back six years to bust Jeter's chops. It's all a load of doggy doo.

I'm not sticking up for Jeter, but any time a celebrity doesn't pay taxes, you have to blame their accountants and lawyers, not the celebrity, unless the celebrity didn't tell their lawyers and accountants all their income, but that's a different situation. The accountants and lawyers are the ones advising their clients, that is their job, you can't expect a celebrity to know tax laws.

If you had an account gives you financial advise, or an attorney gives you legal advise aren't you going to listen to them? So that's why you can't blame Jeter or any celebrity. Besides just because NY said Jeter is a NY resident doesn't make it so.

i think Jeter will pay it back- they are state taxes and not federal taxes. i'm sure he has the money for it- if not he can walk over a few steps to 3b and ask his buddy A-Rod.

I would think that he needs to upgrade his accountant.

Thats a pretty big mistake to be made, and its now going to cost him millions. Even though he has it, it'll still hurt. I don't believe Derek did this intentionally.

( and what do I know, I'm only a god damn Mets fan!!)

It's the Yankee way. Cheat, lie, steal. Of course he owe's the money and he lives in NYC. If he says he doesn't he will be proven to be a liar and maybe the press will stop giving him a free pass.

No big deal he can pay it when he needs too. However his home in Florida might just let him escape the thing all together. I don't see the problem when many others have done so before.

I think they need to cut this out immediately because the guy has been paying his due always and that's why they are trying to get him ok. I think this is ridiculous now. So leave the man alone, thank you.

People are strange. If Alex Rodriguez was being investigated for the same thing, it would be one more reason for NYers to hate on A-Rod.

I don't think he was avoiding it. His residency is in Florida. His financial advisors should have been kept up on this. I am sure he will pay up if he has to.
