: Who can you talk to? And what can you say? How much can you hope to be understood? How many complications can you anticipate? No communication process is ever perfect. People, even with the best will in the world - and the greatest desire to co-operate - often fail to see eye to eye. But that's no reason to withhold trust or pursue a policy of isolationism. Share as much as you dare. You may yet be pleasantly surprised by the extent to which your point of view is recognised, acknowledged and honoured - especially if you can now do your best to listen without prejudice and to speak without antagonism

####good day to you####

Here in Illinois it is 24 % of your gross pay. Sometimes they even get more. You should try to agree on a figure out of court. Then if you both agree it can be what ever you both decide is a fair amount. if you have never paid before then get ready for the back pay that the judge will probably order plus the present set amount coming out of every pay check. Also in our state they will pull drivers license too. Now they are starting to enforce it and also send you to jail if you fail to continue paying. Remember, she is raising the child, it is not free. No matter what she does with your money, the child is still eating, has clothes on it's back, and a whole lot more. So many men think that the woman is not spending it on the child. They never stop to think that the electricity to keep them warm/cool has to be paid, along with the water, shampoo, soap, food, etc. and all the above mentioned support for the child. So try to not be angry and just step up to the plate for your child. I hope all works out well for your sake and your childs too. best of luck. i know this can be very stressful for exspecially cause so many just do not understand where women are coming from so therefore they do not feel like they should have to pay. Well unless she is an unfit mother in the courts eyes, you are bound to her and your child until the child gets out of college. This is the law, unfortunately not our law.

I'm not sure what state you live in but most states use what they call a "child support calculator"...if you google this you will find it...you just plug in the numbers they ask for and it will tell you what you will pay. Here in Arizona you get credit for time spent with the child as well.
