Education is the key. Evolution is a well supported theory, yet there an incredible amount of ignorance on the subject. I have never seen a valid scientific argument against evolution. Yet I continually see arguments based on ignorance rather then a real scientific base.

Edit: See the answer from Matt W. He doesn't even know what a theory is. Intelligent design is NOT a theory, it is a hypothesis at best. And I'm sure he doesn't have problems with other theories, like gravity, cells, germs, and molecules.

The Catholic Church believes that evolution isn't at odds with God's plan. this isn't precisely an endorsement that we got here from monkeys. in difficulty-free words the acknowledgment that God is the author of the universe and has at his disposal all that the universe has to provide. he's not constrained as we are, by ability of time and area. only a reminder...evolution remains a concept.

Correction Aviator: Intelligent Design can't even be classified as a "hypothesis" because it is untestable.

A theory is a WELL TESTED hypothesis. It is a hypothesis that has been tested over and over again by different entities all reaching the same conclusion.

A hypothesis is a TESTABLE statement with a subject and a conclusion. It can be "cause & effect" or correlational.

Something is TESTABLE if you can perform a conclusive EXPERIMENT, in which all forseen VARIABLES ARE CONTROLED EXCEPT FOR ONE, the one variable that we are testing. This way we can know with near certainty (usually of 95%) that that specific variable was the "cause", "promoter" or "inhibitor" of said phenomenon.

Most of those that are against the Theory of Evolution are not Catholic. They are usually protestants in the bible belt of America. They have absolutely no connection to the Pope or the Catholic Church.

I'm a christian myself, and I don't know how to answer your question but I can tell ya that to me the Catholic Church is corrupted and hides behind the name of God for profit. This can easily be seen throught the days of Marin Luther and how they forced Christianity onto others. Also this hate on Gays as well. I feel ashamed to hear how we Christians bash on them constantly, when God said we are supposed to minister to them and help them. As for your question I do have some thoughts of evolution, i'm 15 and haven't taken the class in High School yet so I can't help ya with that.

Actually many of us do believe that evolution is part of the big picture. But that it was all set in place by God.

cheers and have a wonderful day.

The whole thing would go completely away if eveolution was listed as a theory and other theories such as intelligent design weren't banned from the classroom. Imagine how little we trust our children that we are unwilling to expose them to all types of theories on the issue and yet constantly tell them that diversity is important because differences of opinion make us stronger as a society. There is a lot to support evolution but not enough to prove it, so it remains a theory and that is all. Remember that the ancients had plenty of evidence that the earth was the center of the universe, etc.
