Are there any geeks out there planning to celebrate the day before the Hadron Collider is turned on in May 2007 as if it were the last day on Earth?

We geeks will celebrate events of the actual activation of the LHC, whenever it is actually ready. It's an extremely complex endeavor, and its readiness can't be exactly predicted. Geeks are seldom known for irrational paranoia, so they are unlikely to celebrate (mourn?) in the manner you describe.

You used the future tense verb "is" and a past date May 2007 in the same sentence. Please correct.

Did you mean May 2008?
