No, it's my unconscious mind trying to tell my conscious mind how much it dislikes it.

I think it Depends on the dream.
I only have REALLY weird dreams after eating too many spicy foods...
Sometimes dreams are just a fun way of the brain re-balancing it's chemicals.
Occasionally it's solving a problem, EITHER because the conscious mind "Doesn't want" OR that it "cannot".

I'm quite certain people have all of these kinds through-out their life. I think it's simply incorrect to assume that ALL dreams are for the same purpose, especially in light of how complex we are (We don't really even understand how the brain works PHYSICALLY).

Dreams are the way people embed what they have learned into there mind. We do not dream a dream but we dream hundreds if not thousands of dreams during the night. each time looking at a particular events in your life and going through different scenarios. Sometimes we remember one in particular.

So, in respect to your question yes, the mind is trying to solve a problem, and it is possible that the conscious mind cannot solve it. The conscious mind is subjected to far more emotional barriers such as guilt which can lead to denial which prevents the mind from thinking of a particular solution.

it could be.

Before u analyise a dream - make sure it is not food or alcolohol related or related to something u watched on tv late at nite.
aside from this dreams are/can be
precognitive
warning
factual or inspirational

it is believed that the subconciouse mind deals with problems in its sleep that it can not solve or deal with during the waking hours
eg - if u dream of running away from something/someone in a dream it is likely that there is a problem or person in your waking hours that u are having difficulty with which u are trying not to face up to.

I do think that is possible. I have found many times after dreaming about a problem or issue I am working on; the next day I have a solution and know it came from a dream

I think your brain is ironing out the days thoughts feelings images, many which happened without our awareness, and sometimes I think if there was a past event that was very tramatic and you shut it out then that sometimes it tries to resurface so you can deal with it.

also the more adrenalin an event arouses the more intense and detailed the memory tends to be even if you can't recall them awake but sometimes resurfaces when asleep. when I have repeating dream I go ahead analyze and say all is okay and sometimes that dreams stop. though I have the same dreams from time to time that I have had for years.

RRRR

Yeah, I think dreams are a reflection of what's going on in our lives. When I have times of turmoil where I just want to get away, I usually have dreams where I can fly away. When I have an arguement with a friend, I have dreams where they're an evil overlord and I have to defeat them. And, in my dreams, I also wax poetic and am super smart, and actually get ideas for defeating the overlord, ones that will work in real life.

The conscious mind must first keep us safe. It needs to engage other beings, sentient or otherwise. It needs to feed our bodies, get us a drink, bathe the body, etc., etc., etc. With all it has to do, it does not always have time to ponder, to consider, to think and use logic.
So, sometimes that is the role of a dream.
But, dreams fulfill so many roles: entertaining us, letting us wander where we will, doing fortune-telling duties...

Yes, I do. I'm in a psychology class and we recently covered dreams. There are alot of theories, but really it just comes down to what you believe is the correct one. I think that the unconscious mind is our true self and it tries to tell us how we need to live or solve problems.

Yes, i do. i always have reccurring dreams that seem to stop when somethin drastically changed in my life.
i never truley noticed what any of the changes were, all i knew is that they stopped once there was a change.. i havent had one in a while though.
but dreams are the hopes and fears and problems and answers you think on the inside... but never techincally think about when you're awake.

i don't know if it's necessarily trying to solve a problem, but i think a lot of problems are hashed out in a person's dreams... whether they get solved or not, sometimes it's just good to get it all out...
