If you are interested in the:
Revolutionary War period, Williamsburg, VA., which is close to Jamestown, first permanent English settlement in the new colony of Virginia.
Civil War period, Richmond, VA and surrounding areas.
Boston may be chilly right now, but still has much to offer.

Cape Cod. It's off season, you might get cheaper rates.
