A virus doesn't cause an addiction, it causes an illness which can spread to others. MySpace can't send itself to others via a link in a email, others have to put links in emails in order to send it off and have somebody, like a friend or family member open that link to a MySpace page. Viruses get into your computer system and then sends itself off to others by sending itself to everyone in the contacts list in the address book. If your address book is actually Online, as in a browser email program, rather than a clent based email program, then that is very difficult for the virus to accomplish. It would have to access your email via using your logon and password, and that is difficult.

So, no MySpace is not a virus, though I would consider it malware of another nature.

Malware covers a broad range of items, including stuff which often encouraged bad habits, via internet. As such MySpace would fall under "other malware" definition, as it does indeed encourage bad habits, poor social skills, and other issues such as running off to a foiegn country to meet somebody you met in MySpace when you are only sixteen. Log onto Dr.Phil.com and read about the Wed, Thurs, shows, all about a sixteen year old who ran off to the Middle East to meet up with a young man she met on MySpace. This was an honor student, never in trouble, and an all round good girl, yet MySpace got her into a lot of trouble.

So, a virus, no, but malware, you bet.

MySpace is a program.....and there are lots of bad things there...kids have made it a real mess ... there are sites that harbour viruses and Trojans. Click on a certain one that "looks ok" and bam!.....you've allowed them to put a virus onto your computer! That's why, we NEVER EVER click around on the computer. It looks pretty, but man if you could see underneath the site! It's getting to the point where I stay away from it. Now people are making a mess of Facebook.....and even Yahoo's Answers could somehow maybe get messed up too!
Hey, something that will help you is to make sure you have a good antivirus ( and NOT the one Windows gives you).....but look at Zone Alarm Suite. A few dollars to get going, but hey, it protects you. (see it at www.zonelabs.com ).
Or get it all for free!! at www.avg.com Take your time setting this up, do what they say. Not as good as Zone - - - but.
We must learn to keep our computers clean, running smooth. The Internet is getting bad...so much junk. Go to www.google.com and in the question bar - ask any question and hit enter! Like ask Google if myspace is a virus.
AND!, AND!, make sure you have a Firewall. Ask google THAT one. And btw, you'll get all that with Zone Alarm Suite .
You're ok. Always take your time, and don't let anybody mess up your computer. -Paul

No, myspace is not a virus. However, many people who frequent sites like this spread viruses for kicks and the number of people doing this seems to grow exponentially every day. Go there if you have to, but make sure all your antivirus and antispyware programs are up to date and working and practice due diligence in your surfing habits.

Yes it is. The virus penetrates the young child's brain and as a result the child cannot stay away. Years are wasted and the child is disappointed. To fix this, simply smack the child across the head and tell him to go outside.

Deadly versions of myspace:

1) World of Warcraft

2)Warcraft 3

3)YouTube
