I admit, Vick deserves what he gets...that is just idiotic actions on his part.

But with Bonds, he has talent there because he can't just take the steroids and not have any talent at baseball. He is a very talented athlete and I personally think they need to leave him the hell alone!

I get the distinct impression that they are attacking him personally. I wonder if they are trying to turn this into a "Race" thing to divide the USA...

Thoughts? Like I said before...I don't get it at all!

Isn't there more important stuff that this government should be working on verses attacking athletes who, the only person that they are hurting are themselves by taking the steroids?

For sure I don't think it's a race thing. What I do think is that it's just a friggin' game! We have much bigger fish to fry in this country right now. I don't give one whit about Barry Bonds or baseball. What does upset me is that so many of the ones who answered your question seem to not have their priorities in order. Why would anyone want this government to punish anyone? Furthermore, people lie to protect themselves. It's that simple. If anyone commits a crime, the laws are such now that you must admit it or face more charges!

Folks, we are not free anymore and won't be until we get together and start supporting each other.

Uh, perjory IS a crime.

By taking steroids, he was cheating. He should have played using the body he was born with and developed.

Being atheletically talented does NOT put someone above the law.

Race?

He lied under oath; race has nothing to do with it.

Edited to add: This is exactly why people complain about the race card. Just because he's black you think he shouldn't be held responsible for KNOWINGLY breaking the rules and the law.

If you want to argue that athletes should be allowed to use steroids (basically, saying you hope they all killd or maim themselves for life), then that's what you should fight for.

I guess you hate them all that you WANT them to damage themselves.

But the point is, he knew what he was doing when he used steroids, and knew it was a no-no. He cheated in order to break the record. (If it didn't help his game, why did he take them?)

He knew he was under oath when he lied, and he knew that was against the law.

What is it about this you don't get?

Do you think that, because he's black or because he's an athelete, that no laws apply to him?

WRONG!

ok, heres why
barry bonds has always been a very talented baseball player...but if you look at his stats he has not only been getting better the older he gets (with sports we know you usually only get worse with age) but he's pulling out a way larger batting average than ever before. He also turned into the size of the incredible hulk. Take a look at him on the pirates a long time ago...tell me that guy didn't take anything...he's the size of swarzenegger now...who by the way also has admitted to taking steroids (but back in his day that was perfectly legal in body building and fine)

ok, so here comes the problem...technically he cheated to beat hank aarons (who by the way is also a black man) record. I'm not a big baseball fan or do i even care that he took steroids..but now the main thing is that he committed perjury in a federal court..which is a huge crime.
You can't lie under oath on the stand and the higher the court you lie to the bigger of a deal it is.

Can I blame him for lying...no because he wanted the record and he obviously didn't care about cheating to get it...he's a spoiled and ignorant piece of crap who really doesn't have any respect for the sport.

it's like cheating to beat a video game..or cheating to beat somebody at anything..or cheating on your S.A.T.s
I mean, even if you get by...there's still something there deep down inside yourself that says...damn i feel rotten because i'm not really that good or smart.
I'm sure he has that little voice in the back of his mind too...a little bit of guilt that eats him up for being a big weenie
a big cheater...

but the charges are as applies for perjury and they obviously have been working on this case trying to gather evidence and they wouldn't have indicted him at this point if they didn't think he would win, so i'm sure the record will be stripped, he'll lose his career and spend a couple of years in jail.
Which is due to him by the law...he thought there were no consequences or that he could get by answering to them and he was wrong.

and by the way this has nothing to do with race...and fortunately he can't even pull that card considering he broke a black mans record.

Shut up about the race thing. People get the **** over it. Everyone thinks just because he is black...NO. He was pumping his body with an illegal substance that was agains MLB rules. Yes he is talented and most of his home runs may have been from skill, but it was still wrong. He lied under oath also. He obviously was doing them when his trainer would not speak and went to jail for him. If steroids were legal in MLB I am sure the homerun record would be crazy. Its the law just because your barry bonds does not mean you can get away with it. Its not because he is black...he broke the law!!!
Yes there are always more important things in the world...but he LIED UNDER OATH!! Get it through your head. You need to get a little more educated about our system and this case before you start ranting!

He lied in court. Just because he's a "talented cheater" I mean "athlete" doesn't mean he should get off with it. As of the race thing where in the hell did you come up with that? really? Do you know anything about this?

It's NOT a race thing!!!!!!

Bonds cheated to win!!! Yes, he is talented - talented enough not to have to take steroids. Unfortunately, he did.

Bonds illegally beat the record of a black man and if he loses the title it will again go to a black man. Please don't bring the race issue into this. The race card is played enough already!!

Edited to respond to your additional comment:

No, he doesn't just hurt himself. He cheated and took the record away from Hank Aaron. Do you think that Hank wasn't affected? What message is he sending to our kids?

he has mediocre talent, enhanced by drugs... why on earth would you try to bring race into a thing like this? What he's done is a mockery to all of the REAL athletes out there who have survived on pure talent alone.

Its more like....it shows others that if they can take down Barry Bonds they are sure to be able take down the little guy ding the same thing..... I personally am happy to see, only regret that they didnt get him befor he degraded the greatest record in baseball....that record from this point on will mean nothing

They are not attacking him for using steroid. They are attacking him because he lied to the Grand Jury. That's like slapping our Judicial system on the face.

Steriods is cheating even of everyone does it. That means The game of baseball is gone.

The goverment has certain sections, Some work on more serious issues, and others jobs are doing work such as this.
