ok so here's my deal, I am applying to college soon, and I am a very creative person, what types are fields require alot of creativity. For instance, I would really like to be one of those people that comes up with ideas for commercials, not the one that draws them out, but the one that comes up the basic concept of what the commercial is going to be like/about. Or perhaps, design different things, like the images on front of kid's folders, or poster designs, any of that sort of stuff. Look at the websites provided to get an idea as to what I want to do. If you have any advice on the types of fields/ schools I could go into, it would be very much appreciated. :)

To come up with commercial ideas you would want to get into marketing or communications.

To design posters folders etc. You'd be getting into the graphic design industry.

Graphic Design is mostly computers now-days. You can get by with an associates degree, but some places do require a bachelors degree. Other places don't even care if you have a degree, as long as you know the software.
Graphic Design also requires some knowledge of the printing industry.

Common software for graphic design is, QuarkXpress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and similar software.

The best advice I can give you is to call the companies you eventually want to work for and ask them what they look for in employees. Many times they have people who are extra nice to high school students who are interested in the industry.

Look for copyright info on printed pieces to find out the names of the companies that printed them, you can then look up their contact information on the internet.

A Communications major is general enough to qualify for many careers, and yet, specific enough to lead one to good job prospects.

In that major, you will be studying marketing and recreational trends, various media, psychology and a chance to dabble in one or more of the arts. These areas should provide a solid base, from which you may choose to branch off in a particular direction, which may include marketing, entertainment business, public relations, etc.
