admission of there complete and total failure to do their jobs?

As I understand it, it is the government's responsibility to educate the mind and body of the population. It is the church's responsibility to safegaurd the morals and educate the spirit.

By forcing their ideas into a public realm where people are required to be, are they in effect forcing people to buy what they don't chose to buy?

If the churches are doing their jobs, then why is our nation so morally bankrupt?

If it isn't the church's job to enhance the morality of the people, then what IS their job?

Churches are failing because they are irrelevant to peoples' lives. Most do NOT follow the true teachings of Christ and many are corrupted beyond recognition. Woe to the pharasiees.

At least have the self respect to take responsibility for your own short comings.

My.. Aren't we Sister Mary Sunshine! Let's take your last question first. What makes you say they aren't? They can only bring the horse to the water. They can't make them drink. Many people go to church to keep up a front. So your last question is well, moot. We are not morally bankrupt because Churches aren't doing their job. We are morally bankrupt because people make choices.

Your Second question. Forcing ideas? more like PUTTING BACK ideas. Under God is trying to be REMOVED from the pledge. Are we an Atheistic Country? Agnostic? NO, we are a Christian Nation.

Now to the first question. Failures at their job? They can only do what they can for people. It is up to the PEOPLE to either accept it or reject it or even, do nothing.

Your premise, though it has merit, isn't very good.

I agree that some things are being pushed too far, but, I also say that the more we pull away from God, the more harm there will be

The government has the responsibility to educate the people and do what is right. The church can propagate what is moral but it cannot impose what it want since it is not part of the government. Thus, the government must ensure that it perform its duty to make the people follow rules and be morally upright.

it would never work for churches to go into public schools because of America's religious freedom. there are too many different religions to bring it back into public schools. in places like Russia, where the population is mostly Russian orthodox; and Iraq, where the population is mostly Muslim they can get away with it because their peoples beliefs are similar. and no, i wouldn't say they are forcing, I'd say they are using their right to freedom of speech to an audience with parents able to educate them otherwise. We are morally bankrupt because we choose to be. there's nothing the government can do about it

colleges won't be able to push in direction of Atheism simply by fact Atheism incredibly IS a concept gadget (that is in simple terms the concept that there is no longer something to have faith in). What colleges are pushing for (regrettably) is indifference to faith or the shortcoming thereof. As a Christian, i think of it is an undesirable concept simply by fact is entirely achieveable to no longer coach selection to a faith without thoroughly eliminating it.

The wing-nuts who consider the Bible to be SCIENCE don't want any children educated in actual science.

They fear that, if the young understand science, they won't feel a need to believe in the Sky Bully.

Sorry, no cookie for you. It is NOT the job of Gov't to educate. The Gov't's job is to provide for the common defense. Education was always the job of the church. most schools were parochial until the whiners got hold of them.
