Usually you need to drink 24- 32 ounces of water about an hour before your appt. Your bladder needs to be full. DO NOT go pee until after the ultrasound is complete.
Good Luck and Congratulations

You only need to have a full bladder if you are having a very early scan, before the 10-12th week. If this is the case, just try to drink enough water so that your bladder is filled up - the specific amount is not really important.

If you are having a later scan (after 10-12 weeks), you should not drink a lot before as there is no problem seeing the baby and it can be a bit unconfortable if you feel like going to the toilet the whole time.

Good luck!

Ok, I have my directions right here in front of me:

1st trimester (1-12 weeks):
All patients within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy must have a full bladder! Drink 24 oz of water (3 glasses) 1 hour before the exam. Make sure all water is completed before the exam.

2nd and 3rd trimester (13 weeks - full term)
No full bladder is required!

With my wife, at her doctors office she was suppose to have a full bladder. But we went to an imaging center for a level 2 ultrasound and they had her go to the bathroom before. But obviously you can always go potty if you need an empty bladder.

I'm not sure how much water it is..but I do know you aren't supposed to pee. Just drink 2-3 glasses of water and you should be fine. You could always call the nurse and ask her too. Good luck!

You are just supposed to have a full bladder that's all. So just drink as much water as you can and don't pee before you go.

Yes, drink 2, 16oz cups of water before you go. And try not to use the bathroom (it may be hard but they will make you wait if you dont have a full bladder)

Drink as much water as you can and DO NOT pee, lol they need your bladder full so it pushes up the uterus and the doctor can get a better image of the baby. Good luck and congrats!!!

Sounds about right.

I actually got yelled at once because my bladder was TOO full. The technician was a complete witch though. She got fired shortly there after. Apparently I wasn't the only one she was rude to.
