Do you mean to ask if there's ever been mythology published about such a race, or are you asking if such a race ever ACTUALLY existed? If the first, there are some Chinese myths about spiritual beings who could be human or dragon. If you're asking about actual humans turning into actual dragons, then you and I both know that no such thing exists.

I'm not sure a God constitutes being part of a race... so I'd go with an angel (archangel to be specific). Why not... second only to God.
