Why?

LOL!!!

I am very impressed, very impressed.

I was almost leaning toward LA based on the answers, but Ms. Lioness has thrown down the gauntlet with her factual, objective, and accurate assessment of what many consider the "Greatest city in the world" versus the also remarkable, but possibly less distinguished LA.

Not to mention the Knicks (still "rebuilding"), Nets (coming to Brooklyn courtesy of Jay-Z and friends), and Mets.

I sure wish some *other* person could give a similar assessment favoring LA with mention of things like the weather, entertainment, natural beauty, beaches, etc. ;)

1- Isn't the late night king of NY temporarily unemployed cuz Hollywood won't write his scripts anymore?

2- Wasn't Frank Sinatra born in NY but moved to LA to live once he got famous? I guess he got enough of "New York, New York" and being "right through the very heart of it?"

3- You want to talk about diversity & embracing cultures? We have a Gov and Mayor whose names nobody can spell. Brag about diversity all day long, but what good does it do, when it ultimatley boils down to your regular white man club running the city?

4- Tall buildings blocking all sunlight vs rollin' in the SL500 with the top down and wind blowing through the hair, driving along the coast?

5- Long hours on public transportation & darkness after work vs driving str8 to the beach to watch the sunset?

6- An hour to the snow & skiing, an hour to Vegas & sinning, four hours to Hawai'i to just chill on the beach or golf... can you beat that?

7- Getting up an hour early to shovel snow vs jogging on the beach?

8- A couple of kids wearing red or blue vs the mafia?

9- NYC is among the top 10 with the highest cost of living. Call it personal shortcomings but I would be too old to enjoy my "above average" status once I got to that point.

10- Wearing black, looking angry and depressed vs bikini tops & flip flops with a flower in the hair?

In conclusion, one can come up with all kinds of pride factors, but at the end, it boils down to factors that make the individual happy and improves the quality of life. History, tall buildings, financial institutions, statues and football teams may look good on the paper but they don't put a smile on my face every day...only waking up to a beautiful morning, dressing up with the flower in my hair, putting the top down and finally feeling the sand on my feet after work do.

Since I rely on my skills to earn my points, not on the familiarity of my name & avatar, charm & wit to get every BA, I will say NYC. I like the challenge of successfully promoting a city I don't care for and never been to :)

1- NYC has more effectively cleaned up crime. Although you got your Brownsville & Bushwick, Compton doesn't even have a police force anymore and it's the gang capital of the country.

2- NYC public transportation available for all vs only for the homeless & drug addicts in LA.

3- The fatality & destruction of wildfires, earthquakes, and landslides vs snow?

4- Hosting the headquarters of the UN vs the Hollywood sign on a hill?

5- The New York Stock Exchange vs The Playboy Mansion?

6- The Empire State Building vs the wall planning to get built against Mexico?

7- The cultural contributions of of the Harlem Renaissance & Hip Hop vs pornograhpy in the Valley?

8- Effective mass transit makes NY more energy efficient. Being praised for helping the nation vs being praised for driving your Hummer to the grocery store for some milk?

9- LAs "diversity' of Mexicans vs real diversity of PR, Jew, Italian, Chinese and more?

10- Yankess, Jets & Giants vs the Lakers?

I like both so much. LA has so many fun things to do and it is always sunny. New York City is one of the fashion capitals of the world; it has so many beautiful clothing stores. And, season of fall, is so nice to witness. So, both have there unique charactistics.

NYC, the buildings are all eye candy. The food is better too! If money isn't an object, I'll take Manhattan!

Neither. I am an Australian and I cannot stand that war monger Bush. Never liked his father, they are both as bad as each other. At the moment, I don't even like Australia because of the government and all the things they buggered up, especially of what has happened when we try to bring our dead soldiers back. They bring the wrong body that don't even look alike and the caskets were completely different.
