I remember the news broadcasting the war in Vietnam. I remember actual footage of our soldiers piling up bodies of dead Viet Cong. I remember being horrified. (I didn't understand the war but I knew instinctively that whatever they had been killed for was WRONG.)

I remember Dr.Martin Luther King being murdered. And I remember that we had his picture on our wall, next to Kennedy. (And I was sad but I was starting to see a pattern.)

I remember Bobby Kennedy being murdered, I was watching TV when it happened, and I remember being very, very sad.

I remember 4 kids killed at Kent State. (Was by the site just 12 days ago.)

WOW.

Peace.

Death of President Kennedy

I had nightmares for years of nuclear bombs. There was this big dome shaped thing on our lawn, surrounded by the pick scalloped round brick edging. The dome itself was covered in little pebbles, like those old style apartment steps. the grass was always well-manicured and the yard was surrounded by a chain link fence. My nightmare was about how the "bomb would blow up" if the grass was touched. It was so scary. I think I dreamed that beginning when I was about 5 (1970) and continuing for several years. Although I don't REMEMBER, per se, anything about nuclear war, i think somehow my young mind was affected by news, etc., and that's why I dreamed the bomb would go off.

As far as an actual memory, the earliest thing I can recall is when Elvis died. Mom was very sad.

I remember hearing my parents talking about Princess Diana's death...I was 5 at the time, and I didn't know who she was or understand who they were talking about. But I vaguely remember hearing my parents talking about her dying in a car crash, and I thought it was sad that a "princess" died

I guess 9/11 must have been the first event that I really remember in great detail, and where I actually knew what was going on. I was 9 by then. I actually remember seeing everything on the news, and my mom explaining what happened to me. We lived in northern Virginia at the time too, so we were close to the Pentagon. I also remember how hectic it was at school when everything started unfolding, because the teachers were starting to panic but they wouldn't tell us anything, so I didn't know what happened until I got home.

I seem to remember hearing a radio report about the Korean War when I was about 5 or 6 years old.

When whatchmagizzer ran for president and they did gobs of no-nos. He ran either against Ike or was running for president against Kennedy. My greatest memory, as everyone at that time, was when Kennedy was shot. That was the greatest shock ever. Now do not forget, I am only 21.

Why did such a large witch hunt occur in this particular place at this particular time? Witch hunting on a large scale was not the norm in North America, prior to the Salem witch trials there had been only 93 people tried for witchcraft in New England, of whom only 16 were executed. Twenty people were executed in Salem, more than all the previous executions in the history of New england put together.

I think the earliest I was old enough to take note of and remember were the first Sputnik satellite, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Wow! Doesn't that date me?

The hippie festival in 1973 at Cyprus Pointe. It was similar to Woodstock. It was unbelievable all of those people in rural Louisiana and loaves of bread selling for $1 a loaf. Good luck. 2D
