It could "affect" your connectivity. Then, it might just be that you need to update the drivers for it. If you know who made it you can check to see if they have a webpage along with a possible update for your modem.

Yes you need to get that replaced. You cable company should give you a new one for no charge. They probably have some upgraded (actually I am sure they have) over the past 10 years that is effecting your connection.

Have you ISP replace your modem. I've had mine replaced 3 times in the last 2 years, due to them going out for no apparent reason.

ive only had similar problem when certain ports are getting block from the modem or router. though 10years is a long time to have a modem. I would highly recommend getting a new modem but make sure you take time to configure it properly.

Sounds like a defect in the modem - you should call your cable company and get them to help you troubleshoot it. It may be that they will give you a replacement.

there are three possible places your connection is dropping:
1. before it even gets to your router, if your signal from your isp is not strong --then you cant do much but get them out there to test
2. it can definitely be your router and most likely is. buy a new one and test it, if it doesn't make a difference, you can always return or exchange it. either way, since 10 years ago routers have much higher data transfer rates
3. on your network card on your computer, this is the least likely, since i assume you have replaced your computer since then.
HTH!

maybe. try it. get one from the cable company, it should be an inexpensive rental and will work fine, way better than one 10 years old which is way too old.
And use "affect" not "effect" in your question.
