If the Printer is a network printer it will have a Ethernet (RJ-45) Connector. Do not connect the printer to a computer, connect it to your Routers ethernet port.

In the Printer Config settings, make sure it is set to Obtain IP automatically. It will then get the IP from the Router.

Make sure is a "network printer". You should see a LAN port or RJ45 port on the back. If you have one then you should do a factory reset and this will enable the DHCP setting in the network properties for the printer. Once you have done that plug it in to the network and give it a few seconds, about 30, and then print out another config page. If it worked youll then see and IP address. Once you have that go to your web browser and point to that IP and configure the same IP address it picked up dynamically to be static or manual. Then configure your Windows client to install that printer as a network printer with that IP setting.

Clicking on Add Printer/Local Printer tells the wizard to look on the computer you are using for the printer not the network (ie: either on the parallel port or usb port). To add a network printer you would need to click the link that searches for a network printer or a printer attatched to another computer. Hope this helps.

if you are connecting the printer directly to the router than yes they will have there own ip address. if you are using it as a shared network printer than no.
