Lets say the colts and the patriots are in the afc championship. how bad do you think it would be for one of these teams to sign a John doe defensive end ufc type guy free agent to come in on one play and hurt peyton manning or tom brady for the game so that that would advance to the superbowl. Is this smart or taking it too far?

Well, in order for said UFC guy to hurt the QB, he has to get to him first, and if I'm the opposing coach, and I see them play a linemen who's never played football before, I'm running the ball his way every time until he learns to get out of the league.

But as for a cheap shot on a QB... well, look at the Steelers of two years ago, in their playoff game against the Bengals. I think it was the first pass play he had, but Carson Palmer's leg gets taken out, completely by accident, by a Steelers D lineman. The Bengals lost that game, of course.

If something like that were to happen, a blatent cheap shot, yeah, it's taking it too far. (Although, recalling the Pat's first Super Bowl, where Brady was injured in the AFC Championship game, and Drew Bledsow came off the bench to lead them to victory, leading to a QB controversy going into the Super Bowl, it might not even matter.. although, Jim Sorgi is no Drew Bledsow)

If it's obviously blatent... then that would be one heck of a stain, even bigger than Spygate, that would be left on that championship season...

It's not smart for many reasons.

1) Rosters are limited to 53.....45 active for the game. Which means you'd have to cut a regular player to make room for your thug. Not good going into the playoffs.

2) A John Doe (in for one play) won't have the skill to probably GET to the QB against a playoff OL. (if he's in for more than 1 play, your hurting your self with a very weak player). Hence, he'd have to take a very cheap shot after the play to hurt him. Hmmm team signs no-name guy, he takes shot at opposing QB after the play, hurts QB , then is removed from game. Expect a call from the commish, huge fine, and probably a nice suspension of your head coach.

3) cheap shots breed cheap shots. Expect to lose your QB on the next series.

to use the patriot fans favorite saying "if you don't like it, stop them from doing it". i don't have the least bit of a problem having the colts line up some ringer at defensive end and sending him in a la Al Harris at Tom Brady's knees. it's within the rules of the game, right? and if it isn't... the penalty IS 15 yards (so that even takes out the crybaby patriots other favorite -- they got penalized, get over it)

Okay, I think the anti-Pats people are salivating over this. I'm not a fan of the team, but I'm not a big fan of having Brady getting hurt either. I don't get the whole anti-Brady movement.

sturdy selection. super soccer custom on each and every point in Texas. sturdy for the interest. sturdy for the NFL. variety new stadium. Glendale will probable get it after 2011. i'm no longer offered on having the entire Bowl in a chilly climate simply by fact the entire Bowl is plenty extra beneficial than the interest itself. Too chilly in Indy. I nonetheless have not found out why the NFL desperate on Minneapolis and Detroit in the previous. no longer in undemanding terms is Detroit chilly, besides the shown fact that that is grotesque too. would besides have the entire Bowl in Baghdad.

good idea i am surprise teams didn't do this in the past but its not a smart move by either team because they would each get fined once they get caught and alot of football fans wouldn't watch the games as much anymore

First off, why would you need to sign someone from the UFC, Guarantee he wouldn't even make it to the QB. No technigue.

However, I am not opposed to that. It's all about due diligence.

That's not what you might call unsportmanlike, every team in the NFL has players that go after the quarterback for that purpose, and they don't deny it,that's why we have so many quarterbacks out on the sidelines hurt,it's up to his own offensive line to protect him

Too far. Doing anything to intentionally hurt another player is without question uncalled for.

That's the dumbest statement I've seen on this site. Please don't ever post another question on this site.

The only thing you've managed to accomplish here is that you've lowered the I.Q. of every person who reads this by 1 point.
