Vince McMahon bought out WCW for a reason, he didn't like it. If he didn't like it, there'd be no reason why he would want to bring it back, not even for ratings. The main reason ECW was brought back was because TNA's pay per views were beating out WWE's pay per views in ratings, so WWE needed ECW to make pay per views to combine to beat TNA. But there would be no chance in hell that he'd bring back WCW. And like the second answerer said, when Vince McMahon bought out WCW, he brought it's titles to Smackdown! and that's how Smackdown!'s titles became. ECW had a vacant title, so it would be great to bring back. Unfortunately, the new ECW has "rules" and isn't extreme like it used to be because Vince McMahon's writers write the storylines and matches. ECW is getting worse ratings than iMPACT!, scary isn't it?

WCW was supposed to become a seperate Company after the Invasion storyline ended. But fans didn't like the Storyline so it was ended prematurely ended at WWF Survivor Series 2001 and all plans were initally scrapped by Vince McMahon. WCW and ECW were actually booked to beat the WWF but as I stated it was scrapped and ended prematurely because alot of fans did not like it.

i've got been thinking approximately this for a at the same time as. i would not carry back WCW, i might carry back Nitro. Nitro's topic could be a orangish-pink and a bright silver, to examine the Nitro (ECW) Championship. Nitro might function highflying action from WWE Cruiserweights and Extremists alongside with upcoming Stars from FCW and OVW. Nitro might have 5 Championships: - The organic Adrenalin Championship, that's on the brink of the TNA X-branch and, WWE Cruiserweight, and WWE Hardcore titles. - the subsequent era Championship: a call for the era of the following day. - the severe Tag group Championship: For action addicts and soreness fanatics only. - The NightFire Championship: A Championship for flames that execute they're fighters. - The Nitro international Championship: the main status and destined Championship on the Nitro style. Nitro could be a 2 hour wrestling application. Tommy Dreamer could be the final supervisor of Nitro. i think of this instruct could be super for persons like Kane who're massive stars interior the fan's eyes, yet don't get sufficient digicam time. some human beings might say that Nitro could be like WWE warmth, even nevertheless it would be Extremists, Highflyers, and massive superstars that must be interior the main experience, Superstars like Shelton Benjamin, MVP, Kane, John Morrison, The Miz, and others.

He had the opportunity to keep the WCW brand and operate the company with two distinct organizations when he bought what was basically the name for its video library. To have two "separate" leagues, with the only cross-over at major PPVs, would have been a stroke of genius.
It also would have worked to a lesser extent with ECW, but that brand quickly became a dumping ground for talent McMahon did not want to sit at home drawing paychecks or having them walk early by buying them out of contracts.

Vince couldn't have brought back WCW even if he wanted to. The main reason is that ECW had a championship title and it was "unclaimed". All the titles that WCW had are now Smackdown titles. So it could be concluded that Smackdown is WCW.
