I want to get her a snowboard for christmas because we both just moved up from the desert to high country were it snows lot and we both want to take up snowboarding. She has never done it and she wants to learn. She is a skier so she has some experience in the snow. I am not sure what size board to get her, I saw one for sale used but in good shape that could probably get for around $180 it is 152 size.

She is about 5'8 and like 130lbs and her shoe size is 8.5. So if someone could help me out would appreciate it. Thanks

Most manufacturers list weight ranges for each size within a particular model so check those when shopping for a new board. As a beginner, a shorter board will be easier to make turns and to handle in general.

Try this great snowboard size calculator on the web that also gives recommendations:

For her, I would say that a 148 may be a better size, but women's boards usually have a lot of flex which would compensate for the longer board - so it could be OK. The good news is that women's boards are often the least expensive and usually have big discounts - do you have a Sports Authority near you? They have a good pre-season sale now. I would suggest Ride or K2.

Good Luck

That board is an ok size for your girlfriend although ideally id go a bit shorter than that. But the main problem you might have is wheather the board is the right type and the right level for her. The best board for her at the moment is an entry level All mountain board such as the Ride Vista, Sapient Fluid, Burton Feather, K2 Skyla etc.
However good a deal that board may seem if its too advanced for her she will find it a nightmare to ride and it will have been a waste of money. Do you know what the name and make of the board is?. If so feel free to email me and ill be able to tell you if it will be suitable for her or not, Good Luck.

That would be a good size for her. I am 5'7 128 and when I started riding 9 years ago I was on a 152.

What type of board?

Yea you're able to deffinitley make the size decrease i understand she won't like it yet you besides would could understand her weight simply by fact is the main element while choosing the in simple terms right length for a snowboard yet you're able to circulate smaller and a unfastened flexy board may well be sturdy for a beginner

a board should be between ur chin and nose secretly messure how tall she is ( give her a hug or something and see where her nose and chin area is) and then go from there and find what size whould work
