If you killed a member of my family, there would never be enough money to compensate for the loss. I'd want to see you stay in jail for the rest of your life. At least you'd have a life, which is more than I could say for the family member.

No amount of money would ever make up for the death of my family member. Jail is nothing. I want the old ways reinstated where if someone harms my family, I can likewise go after them with immunity.

Whether I wanted you to go to jail or not would depend on which member of my family you killed. . .I'm sure some of my family members need killing. Seriously, though, I would not be happy with a monetary settlement. I would want you to go to jail, unless you had a good reason for killing them (self-defense, etc.).
