Both my sons were born in the water. It definitely made contractions easier to deal with. Changing positions was easier as well, and I was able to use some postiitons that wouldn't have been comfortable out of the water.
We did have several complete water changes each time, but that was pretty simple- all the water just went down the drain.
I'd definitely do it again.

I did really want to do this, my aunt gave birth to all 3 of her kids in a water tub in her own house and she said it was the most awesome thing. But I wasen't able to with any of my kids...I hope to have another one some day so maybe I will try again then. The other thing is when I had my first one there wasen't any place around where I lived that offered anything like that.

I didn't have the option of a water birth, BUT when I started having contractions I got in the shower with the water running on my back, and then later when the hospital sent me home b/c I wasn't dialating, I got in the bathtub for 2 hours and went back and I had dialated 3 cm! It really makes your contractions easier to deal with.

Didnt' have the option of a water birth but if i did.. i would most definetly. It relaxes the contractions. ANd people that know nothing about it think the baby can drown. no thats not the case.Your baby is in ur belly in water.. its getting oxygen through the umbilical cord.. and until they cut that cord (be well out of the water) he will have to start breathing though his nose. So there is NOTHING to worry about. but i would love to do it that way.

Maybe I would.
But only after I birth at least one more baby, so I could be more confident.

I probably would if after doing the research I found that there weren't any known complications due to the procedure.

I would have, if I'd hadn't needed a c-section. It seems like it would be very relaxing.

I wanted to, got all geared up to do it and then had to have inducement and c-sec. I was so disapointed, I really was looking forward to it!
EDIT: Do your research. They are no more unhygenic then the normal routes!
