I have done this, also. It is a terrible feeling when you step back and realize that you've behaved this way to a friend.

When I was a little girl, and I would go running to my mother crying, "Judy hit me," or some other similar thing, my mother's stock answer was, "What did you do to cause her to do it?" I have to admit I resented my mother for that and still do to a certain extent, because when I needed her love and comfort, I received blame instead. But one good thing did come out of it, that being I tend to take responsibility for may own mistakes and generally give people the benefit of the doubt. Not always. I do have my bad days, but generally. LOL
