I want to purchase pcanywhere but they want me to buy FIVE licenses? I have three children and need to remotely access their computers and fix junk. Can't i just buy the one remote and host kit?

If you want to be legal then you need to buy seperate licenses for each remote host. Try VNC as its a free utility and does the same thing esentially.

As the other user suggested there are certainly alternatives. However, I would only like to add that whichever solution you go with make sure that you take the proper precautions to secure those programs from abuse... such as using strong unique passwords (min. 8 characters using combo of all of the following: UPPER and lower case, numbers and special characters). Also make sure you look into the known vulnerabilities for each so that you can guard against those (ie, vnc has many posted as does pcanywhere). I would also caution you against leaving those services running when they are not needed.

Good Luck

I'm running Vista Premium, but XP should have a version of this too. I know I did this along time ago with Windows 98SE, so it's there somewhere. Start > All Programs > Maintanance > Windows Remote Assistance You shoud be able to work on another pc somewhere else ... actually seeing and working like you were on their pc. It's free and should already be on both your sisters' pc and yours too ! Good luck and happy remote assisting !
