Mealworms are the larval form of the mealworm beetle, Tenebrio molitor. Mealworms are typically used as a food source for reptile and avian pets. Can't say how they got on your house plants.

Are you sure that you don't mean mealie bugs, the nasty white, fluffy-looking pests? Mealworms don't infest houseplants.
