many people on this forum have talked about the military's commitment to it's mission. many conservatives have used this rationale to conclude that our military is behind it's leaders. i think that the desertion rate may be an indicator of a growing disenchantment with the administration's unyielding plans. perhaps, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I submit to in innovations 1980, I only back from Germany to citadel Lewis, WA. We weren't at conflict, Iran although had the hostages and the left exchange into screaming shall we desire to consistently proceed the communication with Iran. the perfect exchange into screaming shall we desire to take them out. The hostages remained for better effective than 4 hundred days, and as rapidly as we finally have been given the gonads to purpose a rescue it exchange into botched and intensely some protection rigidity misplaced their lives for no longer some thing. The conflict we face in the present day is particularly comparable in that particularly some the present day persons of the protection rigidity have not have been given any theory what's the perfect ingredient to do. people have created this form of divide over Anti-Bush and what the Afghans and Iraqis desire that they desire to cover. Wider scope: do no longer forget to remind anybody that the only individual inquiring for the draft is Rangel (D) from the residing house.

It's true. My friend james is in the Army and does not support the war, and says that a large amount of people in iraq dont either.

Desertion is grounds to be called a pussy though. If you sign up for it, you have to do what your told.

But yes, I agree. It's the tip of the iceberg.

Desertion is always a minor problem. But, the media don't seem to differentiate between desertions in the regular forces and those which occur in the ranks of the reserve and National Guard personnel who have been mobilized for active duty. I find humor in the position of those who chastize the current President for avoiding service in Vietnam by joining the Air National Guard while seeming to rationalize desertions from activated Guard members and others in the Reserves.
Many of those who desert do so after basic training. That shoert involvement with the military world suddenly finds them unable to make the mental transition and to regret their decision to enlist.
As for the administration's "unyielding plans", we are at war. I don't want to see any "yielding" by any administration in the prosecution of that war. The reality of being at war may represent an annoying inconvenience to the members of the Ostrich Society who have their heads planted firmly in the sand. But, it is a reality I have to deal with because it came with a shock at the end of a decade of denial in which the Ostrich Society held sway.

the desertion rate is about 1/4 of 1%. That is very low.

We have a higher desertion rate here at the cushy office where I work.
