Isnt burning a dvd with one side the same mechanically as burning a dvd with two sides? The way i see it the only difference would be how the data is arranged on the sides, so wouldnt this just require different software?

Is this another of these computer manufacturer conspiracies, like video cards with huge amounts of memory clocked so low that there useless... or DUAL CORE

WIthout getting into the "nuts and bolts" of burning a DVD, the answer is generally no, unless you see the letters "DL" on the faceplate of your burner.

For an example, mine says DVD+R DL as well as saying R/DL

A dual layer burner doesn't burn on two sides, it burns on one side but at two different depths. And the dvds are darned expensive.

Yes, it could ... The DVD+R Dual layer disk is actually worth the money .

DL DVDs are very expensive.I have it on mine but don't use it because of the cost for disc.Stick with DVD -r and +r you can get all you want on them.
