jeter will not even ASK for arod like dollars...why? derek has too much class...he (derek) knows there isn't a whole lot of difference between making 15 million/year and making 27million/year--it's still more money than he could spend...i'd rather have jeter at the plate in a crucial spot in the game than arod, especially during the playoffs...so who is better? right now it's derek 4 (world series titles), arod 0....
derek will get a pay boost, true, but (like tony gwynn and cal ripkin), derek will play for less than his open market value, just to play for the yankees, something he has wanted to do since he was a little kid...derek is a true yankee, arod is not.

Jeter's contract ends in 2011 when he will be around 36 or 37. So, your question makes little sense here. In any case, no one's gonna come close to Arod money. There's a chance he will still be the highest paid player in sports in 10 years. For that matter, the only other contract that even comes close to this one is his old contact that he signed with Texas 7 years ago! Arod's a freakishly talented athlete, a once-in-a-generation talent, and talent-wise, Jeter just does not measure up (really, who does?). What Yankees fans would like to see is Jeter's head on Arod's body, now that would be freaky.

Derek Jeter has had some memorable moments, yet i think of he could be interior the right 20 no longer right 10. He would not hit many homeruns, sure he's physically powerful interior the take carry of, yet so exchange into David Bell who used to play for the Mariners and Phillies., yet noone recollects him. Jeter Has had his moments on the perfect time and place, in many situations interior the placed up season. Like I shop telling anybody, he's a significant call because of the fact he's a Yankee. This guy gets extra endorsement bargains than all of us else and there are extra ideal gamers than him, the two defensively and offensively. i'm no longer asserting Jeter is a bad participant, he's physically powerful, yet think of roughly it, might he get only about all those endorsements or exposure if he performed for yet another group such because of the fact the Royals or Marlins?

I know what you mean abut A-Rod you do make a good point abut what Jeter wants when his contract expires but i think Jeter will move on with is life w/or w/out the Yankees cause he looks like he has a good head on his shoulders and he already has a BUTT LOAD OF $$$$. If he does stick around then he is Crazy as A-Rod and his agent.

I am a red sox fan, and were all the shirts that say all the things your not allowed to were at fenway any more but have the ultimate respect for Jeter. He is a class guy and would never even ask for the money A-Rod is asking, even if his numbers were even close to A-Rods. Prime example is Ortiz doesnt even come close the mannys money yet is the heart and soul of that team

Jeter will not touch A-Rod's money. Even a team like the Yankee$ can only handle one super - star contract. I think something in the area of 100 mil over 7 years is what he will go for. Unfortunately they are throwing away their future by refusing to give up on high priced stars and develop a farm system that would actually let them win the World Series. Al this money thrown around has done nothing but fill seats and give more money to playoff chokers like A Rod.

Derek will be seeking less, why you say? Because he is not as talented, he does not drive in nearly the runs that A-Rod does, his defense has gone south quickly, he does not hit for power, he steals much less than he used to...he is a player on the downside of his career, he may start asking for more now though, to pay his back taxes!

If you want to talk about baseball, take off that picture. Nothing is more annoying then a Red Sox fan who ditches the team at the start of the Patriot's season.
Jeter is a classy player and he doesn't complain or ask for money. He respects his team and is grateful for what he earns. Something the Yankees players lack nowadays.

You have to spend money to make money and the Steinbrenner family is not going to throw around $275 million for no reason. As A-Rod moves closer to every record imaginable his merchandise, from a marketing point of view, will be worth hundreds of millions of dollars alone. Michael Jordon is making more money than A-Rod and he is retired, so is Elvis and he is dead. Baseball is a $75 billion per year business and A-Rod will be their top attraction for years to come. He is being compensated in a range equal to what he deserves as his employer is well aware.

He may want more money, but thats about all he can do is want it. Arod tops him in every offensive catagory in Jeters very best season he cannot even compare to the production Arod gives in his worst season.
