I'm just curious... I know not all systems of voting are like the ones here in my town... but here you have to give them your name.. they look you up to make sure you are registered to vote in the district... and THEN you get to go vote.

Can Illegals register to vote? Somehow I doubt that.

So why do conservatives often attack the left, saying they are trying to get the Illegal votes?

Again.. feel free to correct me if I've missed something... but HERE in my town.. it just doesn't seem probable.

I had to have two forms of ID to register.. wouldn't it be simple just to make something like that the standard?

and.. if they had to rely on fake/stolen documents... it seems it would be counter productive to stick their necks out by registering doesn't it? Not that some wouldn't.. but I think it would be safe to assume that most wouldn't want to take such a chance.

Most that work in my area, the employer either claims they were going to I-99 them so didn't know they were illegal or they are paid under the table... so again.. that wouldn't help them register to vote by being able to be employed.

Good point. Your town is typical.

Illegals can't vote. People have to have identification to register and to vote. And--there's been no problem--anywhere in the country--with fraudulent voting.

So--wht's all the fuss about? It boils down to two things:
1) The "illegals voting" myth is a bit of propaganda circulated by racists and bigots in an effort to whip up hate and distrust of immigrants. It has absolutely no basis in any real facts.

2) The so-called "Voter ID" laws that have been passed in soe states (where the courts have mostly struck tem down) are supposedly based on "stopping illegals from voting" (again--with zero evidence this is a problem)--but have been written in ways that deliberately make it more difficult for minorities to vote (which s why the curts are striking these laws down).

Actually they can register to vote. All you need do is fill out the voter registration form.

Here are the requirements to vote ( I got this from California's on line voter registration site)

· Federal and state laws require you to provide your California driver’s license or California identification number.

· If you do not have a California driver’s license or California identification number, you must provide the last 4 digits of your social security number.

· If you do not have a driver’s license/state identification number or a social security number, the state will assign you a unique number.

· You may be required to provide identification when you vote.

OK, the firsts thing they ask for is a drivers license, if illegals get a drivers license this is a no brainer.

2 If they don't have a drivers license, they must use an SS#. OK so many illegals have gotten these illegally.

3 But here is the kicker, if you don not have a DL and you do not have ans SS# then you will be assigned a unique number and MAY be required to show ID to vote.

So to me it seems pretty easy if some one wants to vote fraudulently then they can.

illegal aliens can't vote! if they somehow do... they will get in trouble for it which is why they don't do it in the first place.

the people who can vote don't even bother sometimes either, so basically that info is wrong... they can't get illegal votes at least not from illegals... maybe they can be corrupt and mess with the voting but illegals wouldn't have anything to do with it.

So... no, illegals can't register to vote. People like to attack illegals just cuz they can.
Also... illegals can't get government help/benefits or such privileges because they are illegals and don't have a social security number... that's another myth about illegals!!!
btw...
Not too long ago I was watching the news and some guy had somehow voted even though he was illegal... he got deported for that! I guess somehow they found out after checking everything. He said he did it cuz somebody told him he could do it... ignorance bit him in the a** and so nobody that is illegal unless they are stupid will ever make that mistake... it's not worth it for them or their family. I doubt that they would want to vote and risk everything for that. It makes no sense.

They can't. In order to register, they have show proof of citizenship, which can easily be verified. The whole immigration thing is a thinly masked appeal to racism. You seldom hear conservatives point out the fact that the employers who are hiring illegals are also breaking the law. Isn't it funny how Republicans are always dismissing Democrats as crybabies because of the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections yet they are always crying about unsubstantiated accusations of Democratic voter fraud? More hypocrisy!

Illegals cannot vote because they cannot provide proper identification.

The politicals are not interested in the alien vote, they are interested in the vote of the nationals who would be offended were aliens persecuted.

the Mexican block is an enormous number of votes for the candidates that win their trust or confidence. They do not dare to offend these larege voting groups.

Also, wherein your small town or village would not be a likely spot for illegals to vote, big cities are far more easily fooled.

Three of the Hijackers in 9-11 were registered to vote based on recieving their drivers license. I am sure they got quite a laugh out of that before they boarded the planes. Most of the stolen I.D.s that are secured are from children who died about the same year the holder was born. By ordering a birth Certificate they can in fact claim to be that person and assume the identity using a valid birth certificate.

I don't think that they can vote....at least not yet. But remember earlier this year how some of the political figures supported them when they had that march. Now, there's talk that some politicians are interested in letting them get driver licences here, and I'm pretty sure, if this comes to pass, their "right" to vote will be next. This country is not too smart sometimes.

I dont know. It's really stupid. The illegal aliens cant vote, but thier family members that are citizens can and will vote for who will make it easier on the illegals.

No one has immigration figured out. I would be happy to run as a democrat that would crack down on illegal immigrants. Unfortunately, no one has the balls to do that.

The way that illegals could register to vote is if they are allowed to obtain any kind of government identification.
The popular 'motor-voter' laws come to mind...a driver's license means registration to vote.
Any gov't documentation legitimizes these illegal aliens and is therefore unacceptable.

You are correct, one cannot vote until registered. New York's recently quashed driver license for illegal aliens would have allowed a large number of illegals voting privs.

BTW, relating the _whole_ story about something does not constitute 'attack'.

All you need is a drivers license to register to vote. This was what the big stink was all about in New York State. You didn't have to prove you were a citizen of the US to get that license.
