A cyclone is area of low pressure around which winds blow counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. Unlike low pressure systems you get over land, a cyclone is a very deep and organized low pressure system that has high winds, rain and very low barometric pressures. If the winds get strong enough and depending where you are on the planet and with, they will be catagorized as hurricanes (western hemisphere) or typhoons (eastern hemisphere).
