Depends. If you mean which land mass had people 1st then china. If you mean which one became a country 1st. I believe it was Japan. I believe Japan was already established before all the tributaries of china were consolidated into 1 country.

china actually came first and then japan. japan used to belong china but got separted because of the lack of knowing each other's language and loack of communication.
