They tend to be more powerful and work faster, so I would say yes. It also seems more of the upscale models are gas, so that would make sense.

Judge for yourself:
1. Gas dryers have a higher initial cost when you purchase them at the store and are much cheaper to run
2. Electric dryers cost much less to buy initially, but are much more expensive to run. However there are no fume or gas line hazards or worries.
3. You forgot a different type of dryer. They're called condenser dryers and they actually dehumidify the air in the dryer drum, discarding the accumulated moisture through a hose. They don't need an air exhaust vent. I would imagine these cost the same or less to run as a gas dryer

They are much better than electric. I had an electric one and have now got a gas tumble dryer. Although the gas one was more expensive to buy it is loads cheaper to run. The other expense when you buy one is you have to have a corgi registered fitter to install it. It does work out cheaper in the long run as the fuel bills for gas are less expensive.

Really people shouldn't be using tumble dryers - it's a big waste of power. Natural drying is a bit more effort in the winter, but the laundry is fresher and it doesn't destroy the clothes like a dryer does. And much better of course for the environment.
And it's FREE!

All industrial driers are gas for obvious reasons, Gas works out at a 1/3 of electric for dryiers. Modern gas driers have sophisticated controls so are very safe as well as being economical.

Don't tell me they still make them, they were not much of a success when they first came out, I would stick to electric
