Not true. think about new orleans with hurricane katrina. we have horrible natural disasters, the fires in cali. we just have enough money as a nation to support people to fight fires, and we have t.v so people can evacuate, and leave dangerous areas. as with war, we have a superior military who fights for us everyday!

Wars: in poor countries, a lot of people are suffering and want to do something about it. In the modern world, we have capacity to provide for everybody at a decent level, and pervasive poverty is often due to injustice and malfeasance, so wars occur.
Natural Disasters: Developed countries get them too, but are better able to cope with them. Look at New Orleans and all the Hurricanes in the southeast; horrible disasters, but minimal death, and most people are able to escape and recover.
In many countries, when there is a major earthquake or tsunami, there is little or no warning system, poorly constructed buildings collapse on top of people, rescue efforts are minimal, and relief efforts are too. If there is political instability, this makes it even harder to get aid to the victims.
