I doubt that your boyfriend is an expert on the demographics of Mexican attitudes. However, I imagine he & his friends share similar beliefs. They sound like a bunch of junior-varsity cynics to me.

There is racism in Mexico as in any other country, but, asside from some very zealous official programs to celebrate native cultures, little has been done to address the historical patterns of racism that shaped that country (one reason that it's tiny white minority wields so much wealth and power).

It's one of the things that adds to the waves of emmigration from Mexico. Going north doesn't just get you better job prospects, for a mestizo, it also gets you better protection from racism.

'Race' is an enticing prejudice. 'Racism' is [the] doctrine of hate. I'm not aware of a mainstream racist ideology which includes an understanding of some specific features of the same Racism. Beligerence isn't racism, but racism has been characterized with beligerent actions like these: homicide, insolence, and vandalism. Humor is something to attack.

they're pretty much ignorant about things around them, and mostly stick with their own race! (survival of the fittest)...but honestly, racism is the most subject people won't even dare touch because everyone these days are getting offended easily by something someone would say!
