I've read a little about it on the internet, but I want to learn more, in a logical progression.

I think we may be in the same boat.

One book that I thought was 100% in-line with my thoughts was Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugs". It's a massive book (like 1300 pages) but you'll fly through it (I'm not huge on reading books the size of encyclopedias normally). It's basically an industry struggling in the face of collectivism (socialism, communism, etc.). One that also gets under people's skin when they see you reading it is "The Virtue of Selfishness". It's another great book, and non-fiction (A.S. is fiction...by Ayn Rand as well).

I wish I knew more though, so I'll probably be checking in on this question again.

For American libertarianism, just read the Constitution.

It's even conveniently on-line.
