Other than being the son of the distinguised WWII veteran George H. W. Bush and Governor of Texas (where a dog could run as a Republican...and win).

(crickets...)

------------------------------

LAW ENFORCEMENT: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and is not available.

MILITARY: I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

COLLEGE: I graduated from Yale University. I earned a lot of "gentleman's C's," which means F's that are turned into C's for sons of prominent Americans.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE: I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money.

With the help of my father and our right-wing friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Kenneth Lay), I was elected Governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR:
I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.

I set the record for the most executions by any Governor in American history.

With the help of my brother, the Governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme court, I became President after losing by over 500,000 votes.

Well now, lets see if we can put a few things in perspective for those among us who are the truly imbecilic, moronic, ignoramuses who think GWB is stupid. Shall we compare what a stupid guy has done to what any of you have done - don't worry this will take about a second. Here is a guy who, out of of 300 million people, has been selected twice to lead the country and who serves in the most powerful position of anyone in the country. The USA is the most powerful, both economically and militarily, country on a planet with over 6 billion people on it. Does that make him the smartest guy on the planet? Probably not. Does it make him smarter than you? Without a doubt. But let's continue. Shall we? While you might consider him stupid, he was apparently smarter than the 100 million or so democrats who tried to defeat him in his last 8 elections. Plus, he received higher grades in college than the latest 2 liberal candidates threw up against him. So, if according to you he is stupid, how has he also accomplished all of these things against people who you must consider smarter than you or why would you vote for them? I would challenge you to take a look at your own pathetic, monumentally insignificant and truly worthless life and tell us all what you have accomplished in a way of even the most remote comparison. The purpose of the question is to find exactly where YOU must inevitably rank on the intellectual scale in comparison since you have virtually nothing, either in your past or future, which will come close to a single one of gwb's accomplishments? Looking at it that way, if you consider him stupid and he has accomplished all of these things, it must kind of make you feel about as insignificant and worthless as a drop of water in the worlds oceans. Or, to put it in terms you can relate to, a piece of cow sh*t in the middle of a 100,000 acre pasture.(9-11) DUH! Not Right? Learn how to spell. Please! And study!!!!

Please don't criticize us Texans to bad.

GWB biggest accomplishment was not in oil, or politics it was in Baseball. That's right. George W's only success story prior to running for Governor of Texas (which is only the 7th most powerful elected official in Texas) was his investment in the Texas Rangers baseball team. He invested $600,000 to gain a very small share of the team, then proceeded to convince the citizens of Arlington, TX to invest in a new Stadium for the team. After the Stadium was built Bush and his co-investors sold the team netting Bush a $15+ million dollar profit.

Quit a success if you ask me.

To expand on that, he then ran for Governor against the popular democratic Governor Ann Richards. How he won that race when Richards was polling with a 60% favorbility rating is beyond me, but if you ask people you will get different responses depending upon the political affiliation of the person your asking.

I think you could ask the same question about any number of Presidents. Clinton had no qualifications other than being Governor of a very podunk state, Carter was (well, what was Carter before he was President?), Eisenhower had no experience in politics at all, Truman wasn't exactly an intellectual ...

It's quite obvious you know nothing about Texas. If all a person needs to do is be a Republican, why is it that the Democrat Ann Richards served as governor just prior to Bush? So what you're basically asking is that we just throw out the accomplishments that apply to politics and provide you with something else? That's like asking what did Bill Clinton accomplish before becoming president not counting his 11 years as governor of Arkansas.

I can't top eminembolism's answer. It says it all. I guess that's the new American dream...if you're a failure at everything else you can still be President.

Well right before he became president he managed to ruin the faith of many people in the honesty of the democratic process. That is certainly note worthy. I admit he had help with that one.
