I am currently 21 weeks pregnant, and have no wishes to find out the sex until it comes out... I am a big one for surprises haha.
But, I was wondering if any of you ladies didn't want to know the sex and if people were rude to you about it. I swear, when I tell some people that I don't want to know, they look at me like I am committing a crime!
Yesterday, when a lady asked me what I was having, and I told her I don't want to know she responded with, "What?! Are you crazy?!?! That's not healthy for the baby!!!"

Not healthy for the baby? I wonder how civilization survived because people couldn't find out the sex until not too long ago....

When I had my children. they couldn't tell what the sex was because there was no technology for that. Ultra sounds were only done if the doctor suspected that something may be wrong. Today they do ultra sounds just to see the sex of baby? When I was pregnant the only way that a doctor could tell was by the heart beat and that wasn't very accurate either. If the heart beat was fast, it was girl Slow a boy. Things sure have changed. And oh by the way, they were all born healthy, All 4 of them. That woman who said that needs a head check

When pg with our son, we didn't find out. With our daughter, we found out.

LOL about the lady who said that it's not healthy for the baby not to know the gender. That doesn't make sense AT ALL.

I didn't get any comments, really, either way, when we wanted to know and when we didn't. However, my close friend was a bit of a pain in the butt when we were finding out the second time around. She kept asking me "Do you know what it is yet?" It turned me off greatly, she pestered me about it constantly.

There is nothing wrong at all about wanting a surprise. :) Surprises such as this are a wonderful thing! Good luck to you, and congrats.

I had my ultrasound this tuesday and I didn't find out either. We didn't with our first and most people thought we were crazy. All I would hear and do hear again is "how are you going to plan for it?" For what?!?! It's a baby and it's a blessing. As long as I have a healthy child that's all I care about. Whether it's a boy or a girl is of no concern. It's not going to change whether you find out early. And my big thing I tell people.....there are so few surprises in life that are good ones. This one is a doosey! Congratulations and I commend you on not wanting to find out. There are few of us left.

Knowing the sex of the baby has nothing to do with keeping the unborn child healthy. That lady is just making up excuses.
Personally, I'd be driven insane not knowing the sex of the baby but if you can wait till the delivery day to find out then more power to you!

Hey I feel the same way about it.

I am 22wks, had my scan around 2 weeks ago and I told the sono tech and dr that i didn't want to find out. Its a surprise, something else to look forward to, with all the excitement of the baby.

She understood perfectly and respected my wishes.
I have no problem with it, neither does my hubby or parents or in-laws.

I don't give 2shlts about anyone else's opinion and neither should you!!
Enjoy your pregnancy!
So ur having a march baby? So am i!!! I'm due the 20th of March :)

I'm pregnant with our first baby, 6.5 weeks along. I am adamant about NOT wanting to know the gender! I love the oldfashionedness of not knowing! Technology is great but I just want to dream the entire pregnancy of what we are having and then only know once it's born! Plus, this way, I can daydream about names for boys and girls.

Most people that I have told haven't been too keen on me not finding out. They say it's going to drive them crazy. Too bad! It's my choice!

I have three children. With my first pregnancy I did not want to know and I never did until he was born. I enjoyed not knowing. With my other two I wanted to find out...but both of the babies were shy (they were in a position that the doctor could not tell the sex), so I never knew the sex of any of my children until they were born, and I was so happy that I waited!
Do what you want! You should be happy - who cares what some stranger says!
Best of luck to you!

that woman was stupid for saying it was unhealthy...finding out the sex has nothing to do with their health. the only benefit really in knowing is so you know whether to buy boy or girl things instead of everything having to be unisex. there is nothing wrong with waiting if that is what you want to do and it shouldnt be anyone elses business.

I wanted to know what I was having but that wasn't possible with my first but everybody and there brother thought she was going to be a girl and indeed she was. However, I respect a person's right not to know, if they so choose.
