I currently have a 4:3 lcd monitor but I want to get a widescreen for xmas, but I dont know whether my graphics card would support it.
I have a nvidia geforce 6200 and on my computer it says I have a maximum of 1280x1024 for screen resolution and 75 hertz refresh rates.
The nvidia website isnt much help. Does anyone know?

check to see what your monitor requires. Right click on a open area of your desktop and select properties to check out what your graphics card will output. Lastly, if you don't find the resolution you need, go to the graphics card manufacturer site to check for driver updates; which may provide resolution updates / upgrades.

you may have to get different drivers for your video card. If you buy a widescreen and your card does not support the resolution for your monitir you will get a "stretch" effect and it dont loook good and it defeats the purpose of a wide screen.

to my knowledge, all current gfx cards support widescreen resolutions. Also, since the highest resolution your card can get is 1280x1024, Yes, it can do widescreen, since I know from experience that 1200x900 is a widescreen resolution.
