33 weeks pregnant. so i consulted with my doctor about my 3 hour test since my 1 hour came back "abnormal" she told me that it basically went well except the last hour that i got my blood drawn. she said it was below average which didn't make sense to her because i would of felt really crappy and dizzy. i then said well um yeah that's how i was feeling...i had to eat my bagel and sit in the parking lot for like 15 minutes until the dizziness wore off. she then said that it was fine. she thinks they screwed up. well if it was low doesn't that mean that something isn't right?? she also told me my daughters heartbeat was a little high but brushed it off like nothing. i read up on it and it's supposed to be getting lower but most likely higher due to stress. what's wrong with this doctor???

they told me to start fasting at 12 a.m. the morning of the appointment. i went to bed at like 10 and the appointment was at 9 the next morning. i didn't eat or drink anything...not even water. i sat there with one of my good friends the entire time and chit chatted. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT TEST AGAIN!! my daughter was not only seemingly pissed in there kicking me but i was getting dizzy spells and felt like complete crap.

No, its normal for it to be low after the glucose three hour test- because you fast so long before your blood sugar would be below average.

With the one hour its a little different, the fast isnt the same, and weird results are pretty normal.

Sounds right to me. Your supposed to need to eat every couple hours when pregnant, your body metabolizes things sooo much fast, which mean your blood sugar levels end up lower quicker. So fasting makes it worse.

Well I'm not sure about the diabetes test since my Dr. doesn't give me one...but for the rest of it I have one answer for you.

"Get a second opinion"

Any time your doctor gives you information that just 'doesn't seem right' to you go see another one...even if you have to spend a little money. First of all they are just human and can make mistakes and secondly if they are wrong...they won't be the one living with it you will.

My OLD doctor said some odd things to me with my last pregnancy. I told her that the baby wasn't moving as much, the doctor found out that the baby had her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck AND the HB had dropped. She told me I was fine and that everything was normal...I was 36 weeks pregnant and I believed her. My Violet was dead 3 days later when I finally convinced myself to get a second opinion. And the only thing that ***** had to say was "these things happen". It was the hardest thing I ever had to face because I blamed myself for the whole thing...I knew it didn't feel right but I still listened to that F----- quack. Needless to say now I know much better and I'm the one in control of my care...if I see something that I don't feel they are dealing with properly then I make it known. Even if some people think I'm going overboard about something I don't care, my baby is much more important then what those people think about me.

Don't do the same thing I did...it just might be the biggest mistake of your life.

Insist on a new test. Make sure you are fasting 12 hours before the test. Activity like walking will lower your blood sugar levels by 20 points or more. They usually do not allow you to leave during the test because of this. Could this have been a factor? You are not supposed to eat or drink during the test either.

Your unborn child is more important than your discomfort of a test. Grow up and take responsibilty for your unborn child! Everything you do affects the fetus. You need a new test grow up and take it!
