It means acceptance of another's failings.
It is the understanding that we are all human, thus not perfect.
It means not going ballistic for an obvious insult.
It means controlling yourself when dealing with anger.
It means not punishing your children for doing childish things.
It means forgiving your spouse for errors.
Tolerance becomes the basis for ones ability to stay married to a person for many years. It goes hand in hand with the other necessary item for marriage, compromise.
There remains some intolerable items, infidelity, physical abuse and the like.
I can tolerate stupidity as it is genetic. I cannot tolerate ignorance because ingnorance is a choice.

It would help if your question was a bit more specific. I think I am a very patent and tolerance type of person. However, there are some areas where I an completely unbending due to my personal beliefs. There are times to be understanding to the situations of others, but there are also times where you must show complete resolve and unyielding strength.

Tolerance to me, is not to have all the answers. Accept that all things are not in your control. Meaning, you can only govern you and your life and that others don't have to comply with your beliefs. Your life will be less stressful if you just learn to let go and roll with the punches sometimes.
