If I call myself a badger and get acrylic nails 3 inches long and scratch everyone to death who comes near, am I a badger? NO.
Sugarcoat it all you want, its still selling your body for money, and even those who do "cake parties", Its just another form of daddy appoval stripper condescending bahaviour to all women - even, and especially, if celebrities do it and enjoy it and aprove of it. Have a spine, unlike those Dems who are willing to sell our womens rights out.
I have no issues - at alll - with sex between loving adults (in all of its variances) and being proud of ones sexual being BUT MONEY SHOULD NEVER have any factor in it. AT ALL.
Your thoughts?

I really love all of these great answers, even those I disagree with.
I should have said more:
My issue is not with the act, per se, I think burlesque" done right " is beautiful my problem is with the "oh, I need to feed the kid" crap, as if working at McD's and getting food stamps is more degrading.
Im talking about WOMEN as a whole. How does this place us when we are still so far from equality?
Women willlingly degrading themselves for dollar bills does NOTHING for their daughters.
*NOTE: I at one time was a "manager" for "dancers" worldwide who were friends & asked me to negotiate etc for them because they were being financially taken advantage of, and I was a hard studying (hard partying too) student , and I did - top level , several appeared in Playboy + other mags, so I do know the life.
Its not the way women should be portrayed. I knew it then, and know it more now. Im not for censorship.
THINK OF YOUR DAUGHTERS AND GRANDDAUGHTERS.

A stripper should call herself a B*tch!!
every woman has a mind to think, for example:
Would you sleep with a man for a little bit of money to make a living out of it?NO
You get up on your feet and stop making stupid excuses, and go find yourself a decent job!!(thats a feminist)

I dont know about strippers in the american culture but I've lived in Asia and know the industry from that perspective.
It seems that you are equating strippers - dancers - with prostitution and they arent hand in hand.Sexy dancing whereas it is sexual and is done with a sexual intent isnt intercourse.
I've done some catwalk and advertisements and hair modelling and worked on tv - all because of my physical looks - I was a psychology student at the time and knew full well I was 'selling my physical looks'. - I could have waitressed and I did as a student but working on tv or being in an advert brought in big bucks easy and quick. - Why not?
Strippers have hot bodies and know how to use them - what is the problem with that? They are their biggest asset and they are cashing in.
Its a valuable thing to be an attractive female - better still if you are smart and attractive.
Its where the power lies - if she is in control and is putting on an act and getting paid for it and goes home to put on her pyjamas in front of the tv - whats wrong here?
Currently, I'm being paid for my skills and brain, I've also been paid for my face..ease up on these women.

Feminism is merely that women should feel equal to a man under the law and have the same rights.
So unless a female stripper felt that a male stripper should have different rights than her or be treated to a different social standard... I don't see how see why she could not be a feminist.
I think what you are trying to protest is the concept that stripping for money is somehow "empowering" to women... in which case I would agree it is not.

I think you can look at stripping from a feminist perspective and I know that many feminists debate both sides.
I personally consider myself a feminist and I don't think there is anything wrong with stripping. The problem doesn't lie within the woman but within the culture. Feminism is a response to the problems women face within that culture.
To me, a huge part of feminism is having control of your body. Your body, your choices. Stripping is a choice, a way to earn an income. At the most basic level, it's about sexuality and although it does become complicated with politics there isn't anything wrong with sexuality--for men or women.
I do agree that it's unfortunate that sex can be bought but the truth of the matter is that it can and if sex continues to be viewed in that way then a woman taking advantage of that cannot really be blamed anymore than anyone else can be blamed for taking advantage of capitalism at any level.

there is not any reason at the back of all to have self assurance the comparable issues than there may be in the different categorised team. the thought all and sundry have self assurance the comparable would not come from the girls human beings themselves, who comprehend we are surely all human beings with guy or woman desires, abilities and skills. the variety of feminists interior the international at present might desire to make beneficial that we don't permit others define who we are.

I agree that woman should not sell their bodies for money...yet I think that dancing alone is not "selling your body" it can actually be very artistic...you should take a stripper class just to see how hard it is to do what they do...I personally don't have anything against it if they have the talent and the body then great...sleeping around makes a whore a whore whether she charges or not and that is wrong. Feminism is us woman supporting eachother for our rights, stripping is leaving their dream...let them be!

I believe that a Feminist is somebody who believes that women are free to make there own choices. This also goes for what they do with their own bodies. Even though it is not something I would choose to do, I would not judge somebody else who would choose to strip.
I am wondering what you mean by "Have a spine, unlike those Dems who are willing to sell our women's rights out" Could you expand on this?

I actually think it shows power and control, men and women want you and are willing to pay for for the pleasure of seeing it. I applaud women who dance/strip and are self assured and doing it because they want to. In fact, I applaud any woman that could use sex or their body in whatever manner they want to. It shows a break from the conventional norms and labels that shackle us.
My caveat to this is that I think it is very wrong when a woman has to do it because she is unqualified for any other type of life or job, or if they have been forced/pressured into it..

I think they can make a lot of money and in many ways it frees them to do other things. It's also a no skills job that any decent looking women can do to support her self and her family. Besides the fact that it is their choice and their life.
