My son is 11 months and I know I should have waited one more month, but I've been working and pumping since he was three months. Its been really hard and I don't have my own office. I decided to start giving him formula during the day and breastfeeding at night . I have to go in and have a MRI and I figured I would stop a month early. It has been one week and two days. I tried cabbage, and the pills are not safe. Is there anything natural I can do to help?

Hand express the milk until you don't feel engorged but, stop as soon as you feel like you are not going to explode. It took me a few weeks of doing this on a daily basis and then every few days, then once a week. All in all, I think it took almost 2 months before I didn't have that heavy got to go pump feeling.
The most important thing is that you relieve some of that pressure or you may get a blocked duct and that is painful. I had a few of those when I weened (thought I had breast cancer).

Your body will regulate. It takes a couple weeks, just dont pump or nurse, and they will stop producing. Its already been a week- it wont go on like this much longer.

You can help by not drinking as much (obviously you're not going to drink so little that you dehydrate) and fast a couple meals. It slows down production a lot.

I would suggest that you wean him slowly. Try not pumping during the day and only nursing at night and in the morning before work. If you stop all at once it could be very painful for you and confusing for him also. Best of luck to you both!

Bind yourself tightly with an ace bandage. That is the only way I got mine to dry up quickly. You have to use it 24 hrs a day though.
