Pete Rose was convicted for betting on baseball and lied about doing it. He is banned for life. If Barry is found guilty of lying shouldn't he be banned for life also?

MLB owners had already "banned" him from the 2008 season...there was not one club looking to sign him (ownership has contacts in the legal system and I believe they knew this indictment was coming down).

You bring up an interesting point on if he is found guilty on any or all of the counts, since it may also mean striking his records from the books (like is done in track, swimming, cycling, etc.). It is my view MLB will not ban him for life for being a convicted felon.....Bonds would never be elected to the HOF if he is convicted and MLB surely is hoping the microscope on the "steroid era" will just go away after this plays out and the release of the Mitchell Report.

Banned from baseball. Why? Because he took steroids. Wow. If statistics are true, almost half of all MLB leagues players during the steroid era should be banned as well. How many more baseball players that we don't know took steroids. How many already confess and were either slapped on the wrist and suspended for a couple of games. Jason Giambi cooperated with the FEDs, he got a slapped on wrist. But that guy was juiced too. Should he be banned. Should all the games he helped win with the A's and the yankees be forfeited. No>>>>. This was the steroid baseball era. To make barry bonds the problem is forfeiting responsibilities ....

Yes - Pete was banned because his actions threw a shadow of doubt on the integrity of every action he took. Bonds conviction will cause the same response. However baseball will not take away his stats and A-rod will be chasing his home run record, not Aaron's.

I think he should definatly be banned...If pete rose is banned for gambling on games he never played in and he always gave 110%...Bonds should definatly be banned he cheated and wouldnt have gotten any of the records he did if he didnt have "help"

If found guilty should every Bonds question on here be banned for life?

I think there is a big difference. Rose's crime wasn't lying, it was gambling on baseball, the cardinal rule of baseball.

Bonds lie didn't affect baseball, the action that he lied about did. His lie may be punished as it occured under oath to a grand jury.

While I would love to see punishment for this sort of behaviour, I don't think you can do it

I think with this, his career is over, either with prison or with Barry officially retiring because of the charges damaging his career further anyway...and yes, I think lying to the Feds gets you out of HOF consideration...

No Mcguire wasn't. Bonds should get teh same punishement as all the others which was minimal. The record should be reconsidered though.

absolutely. this is a silly question. if Pete Rose got banned for illegal betting, then steroid use and years of lies should warrant the same punishment.
