i'm 33 weeks pregnant with several different pains. i have a sharp pain that i get in my lower right abdomen/pelvic area. then i seem to always get this really sharp pain in my back on the left side near my upper rib cage. it feels like someone hit me with a metal bat...the only thing i can do to fall asleep is use a heating pad. did/does anyone have the same issues?? i asked my doctor what the back pain was and all she said was that it was probably pressure from the baby. i forgot to ask her about the pelvic pain though. anyone know what is going on?

I agree with the tendon answer...because I could really feel mine with the last pregnancy and that's what they told me. Just normal stretching as the baby starts changing positions and gets ready to turn and head south. Your body will be feeling more and more out of whack as you get closer to your due date...Braxton hicks- baby turns head down- baby drops into position and you feel like you're carrying a watermelon between your knees- sore back from the change of position and the list goes on and on. If it gets too much pressure on one side I get my husband to talk to the baby on the other side and she usually moves closer to him and makes me feel better. Also you might want to get more support for your tummy while you sleep by putting a pillow between your knees and under your tummy. Good luck and congrats!

It's completely normal, I remember having pelvic pains in my last trimester and honestly they only get worse. The last few weeks it was awful so I bought a work out ball (birthing ball) it really helps a lot. But what you are feeling in your pelvis is everything stretching getting you ready for birth and the more it happens the happier you will be when labor comes. If it gets worse you can always take tylenol to take the edge of it. Call your doctor for dosage recommendations though.

Ohhh... I feel your pain. These are all the signs of pregnancy. Lovely, lovely, pregnancy in the third trimester. Your baby could be sitting on you in strange places and now that he/she is getting big it's causing you to be sore. I had back pain (sciatic nerve pain down my back and left leg, sometimes even deep in butt muscle). I also had pelvic pain. Try to spend time off of your feet and laid out on your bed or couch. I found that when I sat too long in a chair I had more pain. But if I was on my feet too long then I got pain too. Move around and change positions. Don't spend too long in any of them.
Good luck! Just a few weeks left!!!

The pelvic pain can also be from pressure. It could also be from your pelvic bones beginning to separate in readiness for the birth. If you are carrying the baby very low it could be a combination of both.

I wouldn't be worried about it. I was in the same boat. You are getting close to the end and the baby has a lot of moving around to prepare for delivery. As long as you are not bleeding I would say it's normal to feel that way, this is all based on experience. I am not a doctor.

My boyfriends sister is pregnant, she not as far along though. She gets those pains alot, her doctor said it's a kind of contraction,it doesn't mean your going into labor or anything is wrong.
To make the pains subside lay on your side and they should subside within 2 hours. Also, consume less caffine and less sugar, eating a bannana a day helps somehow also.
and i wouldn't use heating pads, though it makes you feel better it's not so safe for the baby at this week of pregnancy.Hope I helped!

Its totally and completely normal. The pain along your back and rids is from lateral tendons that connect your abdominal muscles to your rib cage, they stretch and pull during pregnancy and its quite painful.
Its the same idea with your pelvic pain- those muscles and tendons also stretch and pull and they will hurt a lot. Also, your pelvis stretches- and your sciatic nerve runs through it all, increasing the pain.
Its completely normal.
