Yes, you can get married, but does that really make or break the game? That is only a small part of the game. I would say it's more about the farming and monster gathering. You can also forge items, create medicines, and cook.
If you like previous Harvest Moon games, I think you will enjoy this one. I did.

Yes you can still be married. Anything that you do in a normal HM game can be done in Rune Factory as well, with the addition of exploring the caves.
How you go about some of it is differnet, but it is all there.

It is possible though for all the girls, there are certain small things you have to find to propose. One girl REQUIRES you to trade/lvl up one item with a friend to a high lvl. But some of the girls are easy to propose to. You will of course, have to level up your house and get a double bed before you can propose
