Dolly or Polly (I think its Polly??)

I also like Molly and Holly

I think Polly's nice, it's not as old fashioned as Dolly.

I like Dolly as well obviously, perhaps I prefer Polly though

Neither Dolly or Polly even appear among the SSA's 1000 most commonly-given first names. Of the other two, Molly is easily the most popular, at 105 (in or just around the top 100 since the mid-80s!), with Holly not at all unheard of, at 346.

None of those statistics take into account any of the formal names most of these can be used as nicknames for, especially since all but Holly generally ARE considered pet forms. Dolores, Dorothy, Dorothea, Penelope, Margaret, Mary, etc. As such, there's simply no definite way to determine which is actually most common. Especially since nicknames are ever-evolving and something like Molly, for example, might just as easily be used for Amelie or Emeline, or Dolly for Dahlia. No hard, fast numbers on things like that. ;)

I don't like Dolly or Polly. Sounds like something you would name a doll. I like Holly but spelled Hollie. I agree with Debbie V...don't do that to twins!!!

Dolly & Polly are 100 year old names. Don't use them.

M & H are both great, unless you're using them on twins. Please don't do that to twins.
