All the way down is first, a lil pressure up will put you in neutral, but two much, you will find yourself in second..

Down for first up a lil for neutral, then up and up through the gears... make sure to pull in the clutch.. the lever on the left side of the handle bars

If the engine isn't running just try pushing the bike - if it won't move it's in gear. With the engine running and the clutch held in, to find 1st. press the gear lever down and release it repeatedly until it feels solid, not springy, when you press. Gently lift until you feel the spring give a bit to find neutral. Let the clutch out SLOWLY to check
Best way would be to get someone to show you - it's not easy to explain.

Usually theres a neutral light that illuminates when you shift into neutral. If not just kick down into first gear and kick up on the shifter slightly so you leave fisrt gear but don't quite go into second and you'll be in neutral.

Bikes usually have about six gears in their transmission so if you push down with your left foot when neutral light is on you are then in first, if you want to go back to neutral just lift the selector halfway until you see the neutral light(usually green) come on.
some model bikes will flash the green light when first is engaged but i dont know your make or model so i cannot tell you.

Press the shift lever down with your toe.
Let go and it will spring up to it's resting position - ready to shift again.
Keep pressing down to down shift.
Say it's in 5th gear.
Press down to 4th.
Press down again to 3rd.
Press down again to 2nd.
Press down again to 1st.
If you don't keep track of what gear you're in, just down shift to the next gear.
As you're slowing down, down shift a gear at a time - allowing the engine RPMs and road speed to slow down.
When the transmission won't shift anymore, you're in first.

Neutral is between 1st & 2nd gear.
While in 1st, gently lift the shift lever to get to neutral (you'll feel an indendt, to let you know to stop applying pressure to the shift lever).
While in 1st, if you lift the shift lever firmly, it will go right through neutral into 2nd.

Vise-versa when down shifting.
While in 2nd, gently press down till you feel the indent, to shift into neutral.
While in 2nd, if you press the shift lever down firmly, it will go right through neutral into 1st.
